The Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bar, ensuring a high standard of service, cleanliness, and efficiency. This role includes managing the bar program, coordinating with staff, planning events, maintaining inventory, and working directly with ownership on all reasonable business needs. Base salary is $30,000 with earning potential of $80,000+ on average for this role since our opening year.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the cocktail, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverage program
- Create and test new seasonal or signature cocktails
- Ensure consistency in drink recipes and presentation across staff
- Train bartenders on recipes, ingredients, and service standards
- Collaborate with ownership to conceptualize and coordinate bar events, tastings, and promotions
- Work with marketing to promote events and maximize attendance
- Ensure staffing, inventory, and setup are aligned with event needs
- Oversee bartender coverage for problem shifts
- Lead by example during shifts, filling in when needed
- Provide ongoing training
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in compliance with health and safety codes
- Enforce closing and cleaning checklists for all bar shifts
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance
- Manage all bar inventory, including liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, and equipment
- Track usage and perform regular stock counts
- Place orders with vendors to maintain par levels and control costs
- Monitor waste, spillage, and theft
- Work directly with ownership on:
- Staffing
- Cost control and profitability
- Menu updates and supplier contracts
- Facility repairs or upgrades
- Any other reasonable business-related tasks
- Prior bar management or lead bartender experience required
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Knowledge of craft cocktails and beer
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with POS and inventory software preferred
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
